DaDesktop

FAQs (DaDesktop for Training)

1. When working with Power BI and VBA, does DaDesktop (DD) include Excel? (since MS Excel's capabilities are needed)

  1. No, MS Office isn't pre-installed in DD (which runs Win10 & Win11 Pro). What we provide is a DD virtual machine and a training room.
  2. Trainers should set up a free trial of MS Office for all participants.
  3. Otherwise, attendees can use their own MS Office accounts.

2. Is there a way to copy files from my local desktop to the DD desktop?

  1. Yes, we've provided an easy method to upload files from your own device to the DD Desktop. A minor drawback is that only one file can be transferred at a time at the moment. But you can easily combine everything into a zip or archive and then copy it over to your DaDesktop machine.
  2. If you're using cloud storage, remember to log out before cloning the environment for all delegates.

3. Why does text appear blurry, unclear, or completely invisible within DD?

  1. If you're on Chrome, navigate to "chrome://settings/system" and turn off the hardware acceleration setting.

4. Are instructors able to access the NobleProg wiki?

  1. No, according to the Terms and Conditions at https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register trainers do not have wiki access.
  2. If you need edits made to the NobleProg wiki, please copy and paste the content and email it to the trainer (a PDF is fine as well).

5. When using a proxy or network filtering in Romania, are there domains we should whitelist for better performance?

Yes! Make sure to whitelist domains matching this pattern :-

  1.              *.npg.io
  2.             https://dd4t.dadesktop.com

For any further questions, please contact DaDesktop Support.

6. How can I set up multiple desktops within DD, for instance for Ansible training?

  1. Trainers can first configure the DD environment (RAM, CPU, Disk).
  2. Then install Virt Manager or VirtualBox inside DD to run several VMs and configure networking between them.
  3. Once done, you can clone to delegates in seconds.
  4. For assistance, contact DaDesktop Support if needed.

7. What's the server capacity like?

  1. It depends on the hardware.
  2. For instance, a 512GB RAM server can be utilized as 512GB *3.
  3. Each server provides up to 250GB disk, 16 CPU threads per desktop, and configurable RAM.

8. Can I download videos from the training recordings?

  1. Yes, the recordings can be downloaded now by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
  2. Audio from the training room is included in the video.

9. Which browser is recommended for DD?

  1. Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera perform perfectly.
  2. Browsers such as IE aren't fully supported.

10. Why am I experiencing large delays with DaDesktop?

  1. First, check your internet connection since DaDesktop performance relies on local speed.
  2. Next, verify the server location; the coordinator always picks a server close to the participants when setting up the desktop.
  3. Also, turn off your VPN or switch it to PAC mode. Disable any security software, particularly those that interfere with WebSocket communication, which is essential for smooth DaDesktop use.

11. WebSocket is blocked or not supported by the network

Accessing the remote desktop relies on WebSocket

  1. It might be your device that's blocking it. Review settings that block WebSocket. On some Chromebooks, if the proxy setting "Use the same proxy for all protocols" is checked, WebSocket won't work because it forces a "SOCKS host" proxy. Uncheck it and clear the SOCKS host field to resolve this.
  2. It could also be a network issue, not your device. In that case, you'll need to ask your network admin to unblock WebSocket.

12. What GPU support is available, for example for 3D applications?

  1. Check out this GPU page for details about GPU support.

13. Are there any known issues or anything else I should know?

  1. Overall, using DaDesktop is just like using a regular Windows or Linux computer, but you might encounter a few minor issues with certain software in a training setup, especially when cloning machines.

14. Do you support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation?

  1. No, we don't offer support for Mac-related software or emulation, mainly because of licensing complications.
